Course Description

So you're just about done with college. What do you do now? You need to get a job. You never had one before and do not have any interviewing skills. What do say? How do you say it? What do ask? What do you not ask? You will learn all the hidden secrets and tips to a good interview.

Course Requirements

  • All students must have at least a high school reading and writing level to enter this course.
  • You will also need a notebook, a pen or pencil and a highlighter.
  • Please be sure your e-mail address is valid, as well. I am an avid e-mail checker and sender, thus most, if not all of my student communication will take place over e-mails.
  • You will need Get Adobe Reader for some reading materials.
  • (Optional) A mini voice recorder so you can listen to yourself.
  • You will need someone to play the interviewer role, such as a friend or relative.
  • Course Goals

    The overall goals of this course is for each student to: -Overcome negative job-search attitudes -Formulate proactive strategies for today's job market -Identify your transferable skills -Use your transferable skills to get the job you want -Professionally redesign yourself -Deal with your interview fears -Researching before the interview -Preparing yourself for a winning interview

    Course Materials

    -Notebook for taking notes -Highlighter(any color) -Pencil or pen for editing your resume -IMPORTANT! Valid e-mail address, as this is how I will communicate with you. -cover letter(optional). You will have an opportunity to create one in class -Mirror, any mirror at your place as long as you do not have to hold it. -A listening partner or a small voice recorder -Someone that can play the "interviewer" role

    Grading Policy

    Grading Policy: A = 100-90% B = 89-80% C = 79-70% D = 69-60% F = 59% and below Grading is based on active participation, regular attendance and overall class performance.
