Course Description
This course will lead you through a journey into your artistic side. You will learn how to use graphite and colored pencils to draw two dimensional and three dimensional shapes, and make designs. Also, you will delve into sketching, shading, lighting, and shadowing objects, human faces, and landscapes using charcoal, pastels and mixed mediums. The course begins with an introduction of the course, discusses definitions of art, shares the history of art, and gives the life story of featured artist Vincent Van Gogh. From there, the course moves through five exciting art lessons that give instructions for projects for creating a three dimensional box, Celtic Knot, sphere, pear, self-portrait, skyline silhouette, and landscape. By the time you have completed this course, you will know how to draw straight lines to curved objects, where and why you use shadowing, shading and lighting. You will also learn how to use flat and sharp sides of a pastel crayon, how to apply and erase various types of soft and hard charcoal, how to create a design, how to sketch faces, and how to transform a picture into a silhouette sketch. Your instructor for this course is a professional design artist with seven book cover designs to her credit.
