Course Requirements

You should have recently completed a high school Algebra 2 course or a college introductory algebra class. A grade of C+ or higher would be best. If you need an Algebra I course, I also teach that course here.

A book of my choice is required. It can be found easily on the internet for under $30. You will need the isbn number in order to purchase the correct book. Information for the book is at my personal web site Math in a Box, .

Course Goals

This course will prepare you to take College Algebra. Setting high goals for yourself will always be to your benefit. Ask a friend to take the course with you. You may enjoy the competition.

Course Materials

The required textbook is Intermediate Algebra, 5th edition, by Aufmann and Barker. It is an older edition of a textbook used at many universities. I can help you find it on the internet at a reduced price. It is an excellent book. The cost is usually $10 to $25 including the shipping. Information for the book is at my personal web site Math in a Box, . You msut have the correct ISBN number to purchase the book since there are many books with the same name.

Grading Policy

Each lesson will contain 1 to 3 assignments. There are at least 30 lessons and 7 tests. The assignments will be graded and at the end of each of the chapters a test will be given. Test scores of less than 76% must be retaken before continuing to the next chapter. Requests for retake of assignments may be made by a student at any time.

The grading scale:
90-100 is an A
