Course Description

This course will walk a potential business owner through the legal issues concerning starting a business. It will include information concerning sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations and limited liabilty companies. Information will be provided on naming the business, creating an ownership agreement, and required licenses and permits. Also included are tax information, borrowing money, hiring and firing, and the pros and cons of franchises. This course will help anyone start a legitimate business, giving them the proper insight into pitfalls and successes.

Course Goals

The goals of this course can be met when the student has gained knowledge concerning opening a business, and has fundamentally met the challenge, in theory or in reality. The students will be able to build a business model from which to succeed in the business of their choosing.

Reading Materials

The reading materials are inclusive to the text and the net links provided. Students are not required to purchase any reading material for this course.

Grading Policy

The student will have a minimum of one assignment per lesson and one online quiz per lesson. There will then be a final exam that will cover all the material of this course. The tests for this course are timed, so be sure that when you log in to take the test, you are prepared to finish the test. Each student will receive updated test scores and assignment grades. Grading is as follows. 90-100= A - 80 - 89 = B - 70 - 79 = C - 60 - 69 = D 0 - 59 = F. Students will be able to retake exams one time.

Certificates

Although this is not an accredited course, students achieving a high score and completing all assignments, lessons, and tests are encouraged to request a certificate for Outstanding Achievment and Academic Excellence. These certificates will enhance any office. Clients will know immediately that the student has studied and passed a course in business law and management.
