Course Description
Advanced Biblical Counseling is a course for students who have taken the Beginner and Intermediate courses, and wish to move closer to becoming a Biblical Counselor. It is required that students take the Beginner and Intermediate Courses to take this Advanced Course.
In this course:
* Dealing with Depression Through Christ
*Case Studies
* Procedure
These will be the primary focus. Students who successfully complete this course can then move onto Advanced Biblical Counseling 2. The advanced courses will lead you to the knowledge necessary to open an office and help people maintain a Christain centered wellness in their lives. This includes, Spiritual wellness, physical, emotional, and relational. Mentoring skills will be taught in the next course of this series.
Course Requirements
Students must take Beginning Biblical Counseling and Intermediate Biblical Counseling before taking this course. Students must be able to participate via Class Chat during this course, as a group and individually. Discussions on the board will also be required. Students will be required to provide solutions to situations within the text of each course lesson.
Course Goals
The goal of this course is to provide the students with a forum to utilize the techniques they have learned to assist a client in a counseling session.
Students will provide Biblical answers to real life situations and learn to develop a relationship with the client.
Reading Materials
This course reading material will be inclusive in the text and the King James Version of the Bible. Students will not be required to purchase any other reading material for this course.
Grading Policy
This course is graded on a pass /fail.
90-100 A / 80-89 B / 70-79 C / 60-69 D. Anything below a 60 is failing and the student will have to retake the course, receive a passing grade, before going onto the next course of this series. Certificates of Participation, Merit, Attendance, Outstanding Achievement, and Outstanding
Academic Excellencewill be offered with this course.
Upcoming course and the future.
Students completing this course and the next course, Advanced Biblical Counseling 2 will be well equipped to begin helping clients in real life situations. Students will learn how to apply what they have learned, without having to go through costly and lengthy licensing procedures. Working with differently abled adults and children in a therapeutic setting will be addressed.
Additional Courses for Consideration
Angels Among Us is a single course class offered by the Instructor of this course. An upcoming class that will be available in March is "An Introduction to Teaching". The classes will include Preparation, Interpreting God's Word, Factors in the Teaching Process, Lesson Planning For a Successful Class, and more. Students are encouraged to take this course to broaden the scope of their serivce to others.
