Course Description

This initial course will give you a wealth of material to help familiarize yourself with the breeds of dogs, groups, medical terminology, and general healthcare requirements for dogs. It is the foundation for building a business that will bring you years of enjoyment and a substantial income if that is the route you take with these courses. This Beginner course will also touch on teaching tricks, behavior problems and how to address them, as well as generalized information on the various dog foods, so you can make an informed choice when it comes to feeding your dog.

This course is the lead into the Intermediate course, which will offer more insight into the business aspects of being a dog expert.

Course Requirements

There are no pre requisites for this initial course. You don't need to own a pet to benefit from this course, and you certainly don't have to own a pet to be in the pet industry.

(Students must complete Beginners before moving into Intermediate, and they must complete Intermediate before moving into Advanced.) To complete this course requires students to complete all assignments and quizzes, and take mid term and final. Visit web links as posted.
Students are encouraged to contact the teacher with questions, and to participate in chats.

Course Goals

To familiarize the student with the 7 AKC groups and some of the breeds therein, and to teach the student basics in dog care, training and behavior,and homeopathic remedy use.

Reading Materials

All material will be online and on the web links provided for the student. No purchased books are required.

Grading Policy

Grading is as follows: 90-100 A 80-89 B 70-79 C 60-69 D Anything below a 69 is a failing mark. You will be able to retake the course again, but only students who pass can move on to the Intermediate and advanced courses.

A little about my qualifications.

As an animal behaviorist, Judge, and dog trainer for the past 23 years, I am qualified to help any student so inclined to become a local dog expert. I have shown many dogs to AKC Championship, run a successful boarding and grooming kennel, and have worked as a veterinarian technician. I am pleased to pass this knowledge on to students who have a love of animals and a passion about starting a good business in the pet industry.

Certificates

Certificates will be issued in this course. They are as follows:
Participation. All students who participate in 5 sessions, and pass the course will receive this certificate.
Award of Merit: For all students who pass with a minimum of 70%.
Award of Academic Achievment will be issued to all students who complete the course with an A.
