Course Description
Biblical Counseling is a form of psychology where by the Bible is the basis for all outcomes. Spiritual Counseling, also known as Biblical Counseling is different than secular counseling. You will learn the differences between the two, and the opportunity to understand and utilize a Christian basis in problem solving. It addresses the many issues counselors see, and the increase in certain phobias and how to address them from a Christian or Spiritual perspective.
This is a self paced course.Included is the process for taking a hurting client through the seven steps to freedom.
Students will learn the requirements for becoming a Spiritual Counselor, and how to set up an office that will invite prospective clients. In some states, there are no Degree requirements to open a Spiritual Counseling Center. However, each city, town and local government have their own requirements. It is suggested that each student look into the ordinances for their area.
In this beginner course, the work is generalized. In the intermediate and advanced courses, students will move forward and learn the requirements to complete their education in Biblical Counseling, how to set up a professional office, and the licensure if any, required for becoming a Biblical Counselor.
Students will explore books in the Bible to better guide them in decision making.
Course Requirements
Complete 6 lessons and assignments, and take a midterm and final.
Course Goals
The goal of the course is to introduce Spiritual Counseling as a viable option for career choices.
The focus for this beginner course is to provide the student with the opportunity to determine if they want to become a Biblical Counselor.
-In this course students will learn the do's and don'ts of Biblical Counseling.
-Students will understand lifestyle leadership value and how to do data gathering to better serve the client.
-Students will learn how to assess a variety of problems, and understand how to address them with the client.
-Students will learn how to take clients through the 7 steps of freedom.
-Students will learn how to set up an office that will bring clients to their door.
The student should come away from this course with a keen knowledge of lifestyle leadership and the various forms of love and how they affect relationships.
Reading Materials
There is no assigned text to be purchased for this course. The Bible will be utilized throughout the course.
Materials will be available via Email and the virtual classroom. Students will be required to attend classroom time 2 or more times, do all the assignments, take 1 quiz and a final exam based on the information they will acquire in this course. Students need no college education to take this course. A high school equivalent is recommended.
King James Version of the Bible will be referenced.
Grading Policy
90-100 A
80-89 B
70-79 C
60-69 D
Below 60 Failed. Students may retake the course one time after a fail, or may do extra credit to make up the points.
