Syllabus: Internet Tips & Tricks

 

Course Description

"Have you ever noticed the more you use your computer the slower it seems to get or ever wondered what lol or brb means?" This course will help you to optimize your computer by teaching you How to run disk defragmenter, delete internet temp files, cookies & how to delete internet history files. In addition, you will learn Internet Etiquette, how to communicate on the internet, through emails & in chat rooms! There's a lesson about Search Engines & how they work, and you know those cute little emoticons that you see from time to time? There's a whole lesson on Internet acronyms, emoticons & smiley's plus a page full of them that you can copy and paste in your emails or anywhere else you like. You will learn about spam & junk mail and how you can minimize them. There's also a  lesson on Microsoft Outlook.

Previous Experience:

The only experience required for this course is the ability to turn on your computer and connect to the internet.

Materials

The only materials you will need are a copy of Microsoft Windows 98, Windows Mellinium, Windows XP  or Windows Vista already installed in your computer. All your reading material is available for everyone through our class net links, class lessons, class assignments, class announcements, class forums, etc ..

Certificates Will be issued for

1.Attendance: Visiting this class at least 5 different days
2.Class Participation for posting at least 5 messages in the Class Discussion forum
3.Outstanding Achievement: for completing all assignments and or lessons in the class

Requirements:

This is a self paced course. You can work at your own pace. All I ask is that you:
1.Check in at least once a week
2.Complete all class lessons
3.Complete all class assignments listed in the assignments area
4.Complete all quizzes and or tests

Goals:

When you have completed this course you will know:
1.How to perform different functions that will make your computer run faster
2.How to customize the links bar on your browser.
3.Communicate on the internet through emails and in chat rooms & to minimize those unwanted emails.
4.The difference between what a scam is & what isn t. And how to report an internet crime and or scam.
5.How to Use the different types of Search Engines & How they work.
6.How to use & set up Microsoft outlook And much, much more!

these can be handy when you need them.
I particularly liked how to use disk defrag
