Course Information

The business of studio photography is offered in addition to basic photography lessons. This course is also for the professional photographer wanting to learn more about studio promotions or how to add more business to an already successful studio. Or you just might want to improve your skill as a photographer by learning creative techniques along with the science of photography. As a special bonus, learn how to design your own backgrounds and scenery and learn posing and composition so your work is creative and one-of-a-kind.

In conclusion this course teaches you step-by-step how to open your own studio or on-location photography business. You do not need a professional camera, even a small throw-away camera will work in order to send in samples of the lessons given. No special books or additional materials required.

Course Requirements

You may own any kind or type of camera in which to send in sample work. Even a disposable camera will work for this course. Student must also be able to read pdf documents from either Windows or a Macintosh computer using Adobe Acrobat reader.

Course Goals

To teach the serious beginner the basics of photography, choosing a camera, film and developing, basic and advanced outdoor and studio lighting, creating a portfolio, wedding, glamour and child photography and setting up your own at-home or on-location portrait studio. Price includes reading material, assignments and quizzes with personal instruction and critique of your photo samples submitted for review. The course goal is to make a professional photographer out of a true beginner, or a better studio manager and money-maker out of the already pro-photographer. The time it will take depends on the individual. You can literally take this course over an 8 week period of time and learn all you need to know about taking saleable prints and then selling them.

Reading Materials

You are encouraged to read through all the netlinks for a thorough understanding of your photographic training.

There is no need to go out and purchase any additional information on photography. This course contains everything you will need including free e-guides on photography that the instructor has prepared that you may upload from your classroom link including critical photography contracts and checklists that you will need to copy and use for your own studio. Includes exposure charts and technical terminology and information that will make the complicated world of photography clear as a bell. Discussions on the art of photography is included and media will be given on fun, creative ways that your photograph can turn into a work of art. Lighting media is also offered that will teach you lighting in a snap.

Grading Policy

At the end of each section there will be a 10 question, 10 points each, exam for a total of 100% possible percent.

This is a full photography 101 type course. Because of the marketing information given even pro-photographers will appreciate this course. In fact, many pro photographers are already taking this course. Samples are included from the instructors' own portrait portfolio. Information on working with models, product photography and other types of commercial photography, and photo-journalism are discussed along with the basic photography information given.

Time Limit To Complete Online Photography Course

This is a self-paced course that you take in your spare time, full or part-time as your schedule permits. You are required to enter the class forum and read postings at least once during your course, but are not required to post messeges of your own. This course is entirely at your own pace, however, one could easily complete the entire course in 8-12 weeks. You can prolong the course for up to a year if you like and enjoy the forums and conversation from the instructor as well as continue to chat in the chat room with the other students. Enjoy.

Materials Needed

You do not need to have a 35mm camera to complete this course. For any pictures required for assignments you may use any type of camera, even an instant camera using the lighting techniques offered. Students are asked to submit there photo work for critique using any online photo album such as Yahoo photo albums, or they can mail there work to the instructor's home or business address.
