You will need supplies for this course. First being a printer, ink (black will do) and paper. You will have (at the time of this printing) almost 100 pages to print out and complete. These activities will become your folder of the United States, Map Skills, Geography, and much more. You will be able to use this reference and learning guide for years to come. A United States Diary/Journal-of sorts.
You will need a folder, or binder to add your pages to. As we will be adding pages periodically, a three ring binder to insert pages easily into is best. This you can add information to and keep for future use, as it will be a wealth of information!
You will need glue, and crayons or colored pencils or markers, depending on the grade of paper you are using in your folder.
Begin collectiong pictures and articles from old magazines, newspapers, old books, etc. as you will need them in the clip art lessons.
Go to the links in the course as they are placed. Do not be sidetracked once there; you will be brought back to them later, in the order it needs to be learned.

Course Goals

Each student must meet the Education Standards for studies on the United States. In this course, you can do so by "Exploring with Map Skills", Trip planning, Mathematical distances, History, Spelling, Language Arts, Science, online movies, printout activities, interactive map work, resource links, and much more!

Each assignment, quiz, link, resource, or activity will be given 10 or more points for completion. The final test will have various points assigned to each question, and the total of all above combined will determine your final score and grade for the course.

Course Topics

First you will begin your "Journey" at your own home town. This will give you an idea of where you are, and how your state depends on the team work of the other states to make the United States the strong country that it is.

We will then have Map Studies so you better understand the maps you will be using the rest of your life.

An important part of learning is to be able to write well, that is why there is a bonus lesson on Writing Good Reports.

You will learn how to search out the Current Events that are shaping the country.

We will then focus on each Region, it's Climates, and the Main Resources of each State.

For important historical facts we will focus on the Original Colonies and how our Government came into existence.

We will also focus on each individual state, it's facts and highlights that draw people to it.

This is an American Adventure which will incorporate Matching activities, movies, and lots of games and fun!
