Course Description
Did you know that 8 out of 10 Americans will experience a back injury at some point in their lives? Are you one of these people or would you like to avoid being one of these people? Then this course is for you! In this course you will learn general back anatomy, common causes of back injuries, common back disorders, treatment ideas, good mechanics and posture along with tips on how to prevent injuring your back. This course is not intended to be a substitute for professional health care. This course is just a general self help program for keeping your back healthy. It is highly recommended that you see you doctor before undertaking any significant lifestyle change.
Course Requirements
This course does not require the student to purchase books, special class material or special software. This course requires the student to have at least a high school reading and writing level.
Course Goals
Course goals include the following: 1)Be able to describe the general anatomy of the spine, 2)List common causes of back injuries, 3)List common back disorders, 4)Identify several ways to prevent back injuries.
Grading Policy
Students will be graded on class attendance, class participation and must receive a score of 70% on the quizzes.
