Course Requirements
Materials:
CAMERA
-You must have access to a video camera, preferably with manual settings options. Any camera that has a connection (a firewire or usb cable) to your computer will be fine. (Those with more experience will want at least a 3 ccd mini dv camera such as a Panasonic DVX100 or a Cannon XL1.) You will also need the tape stock required to record on your camera.
COMPUTER
-You must have access to a computer that has a connection from your camera to your computer through a firewire or usb cable. Your computer will need to run Windows XP or Mac OSX. Download the free AVID FREE DV: http://www.avid.com/freedv editing software.
or
-You must have access to any editing software and understand that you will have to learn that software on your own, but the editing principals in this class will be applicable.
LIGHTS
-Any three lights will do. They can be lamps from around your home.
-I recommend China lamps. You can find China Lamps at IKEA, or usually any party shop. Pick up three china lamps, three dimmers (where you plug the lamp into the dimmer and the dimmer into an outlet) and three bulbs ( as high of a wattage that is safely allowed by the china lamp). **Warning: When working with lights and electricity, make sure that you are following all safety warnings on the lamps. Do not do anything that may start a fire. Be safe.
It is recommended that you have FINAL DRAFT screenwriting software, but it is not required.

-Write and pitch a short story New Media project.
-Learn the crew and production positions on a film and television set.
