Course Overview
This class is designed to give you certain tools to use when you encounter problems with a computer at school, home or at work. It is designed to provide you with some basic troubleshooting skills, knowledge of resources that are available on the internet and confidence in your ability to work with computer software as well as hardware-related problems. When you leave this class you should be able to solve simple computer problems yourself, and communicate effectively with a technician if you ever need to! Also, besides the textual/theoretical explaination covered in this course, we will also focus extensively on hands on troubleshooting exercises. In addition to that, all participants would be able to discuss their computer problems and their possible resolutions through email/msn messenger during and until the completion of the course. All in all, I guarantee you that the level of personal support and commitment I provide to all my students is exceptional.
Course Requirements
1. All students need access to a basic computer with an operating system installed on it such as Windows 95, 98, ME, XP, 2000 etc. This course is not intended for operating systems prior than Windows 95.
2. Students should know how to operate a computer. For e.g. opening and shutting down the computer, working with the mouse, using the keyboard (no set typing speed is required) etc.
3. All students should have access to the internet.
Course Goals
Upon satisfactory completion of this course, the student will be able to:
A. Solve basic computer and operating system errors.
B. Locate and access Internet-based reference materials and technical support resources that can assist in solving basic computer problems.
C. Use basic operating system utilities to monitor system functions and identify software related problems.
D. Install a desktop operating system and perform basic configuration functions.
E. Obtain and install software updates and patches.
F. Isolate and solve basic printing problems.
G. Learn how to formate a hard drive.
H. Identify and solve basic problems related to connecting to networks and the Internet.
Course Materials
I will upload course files or lessons that will be divided into different topics. Also, This self-directed course will use a combination of Internet-based resources and discussion, on-line practice quizzes and tests, and extensive hands-on experiments that you will do on your computer.

90-100 = A
89 - 80 = B
79 - 70 = C
69 - 60 = D
