Course Description

Who is this course for?

Anyone who wants to create a web page quickly and efficiently for professional or personal purposes is the right candidate for this course.

You can create a web page using the core HTML code. Then why do you need FrontPage? Time is precious!! Using FrontPage can save you time and make the job way too easy. You just need to click the mouse on various options and you'll be done creating a web page in no time.

Students don't need to have prior knowledge of FrontPage. This course has exhaustive lessons with pictorial representations. This course is designed so that even a novice can master FrontPage thoroughly.

The best part is: you don't have a start or end date for this course. You can complete this course at your convenience. Joining this course will keep your knowledge level and your pocket full.

Course Requirements

FrontPage 2003 software is required. Also, you need to have a browser, preferably Internet Explorer 6.0 or Netscape Navigator 7.1. Basic working knowledge of computers and the browsers should suffice.

Grading Policy

Grading will be done on a percentage basis. The total percentage that can be scored is 100%.
Students will be awarded a "Certificate of Academic Excellence" for achieving a grade of 70% or higher. Students will be awarded a "Certificate of Outstanding Achievement" for completing all the quizzes and assignments required for this course.

Course Organization and Topics Covered

1. Introduction

This lesson, being an introductory lesson, deals with a brief study of the history of the Internet and the World Wide Web. You'll also be introduced to the common terms used in the language of the Internet.

2. Getting Acquainted with FrontPage

As the title suggests, in this lesson you'll try to get comfortable knowing the FrontPage interface. You'll learn how to launch FrontPage, about the FrontPage window, toolbars, drop-down menus, and closing the FrontPage program.

3. Getting Help and Creating a New Web Site

This lesson deals with getting help in FrontPage, the different ways of getting help and also about opening a new Web Site.

4. Web Page Knick-Knacks

This lesson teaches you how to open an existing web site, open a new web page, save and close a web page. Last, but not the least you'll learn how to open an existing web page.

5. Managing Files, Folders, and Websites

In this lesson, you'll learn to view the folder list, rename and delete files and folders, rename and delete a website, convert a subfolder to a website and vice versa.

6. Text basics, Printing, and Web Page bric-a-brac

Topics that you'll be covering in this lesson include entering, selecting, and deleting text, printing, print preview, and a little overview about views.

7. Preview, Modify Page Title, and essentials of Text editing

By the end of this lesson, you'll be able to preview a web page in the browser, change the page title, copy-paste the text, find text, and more.

8. Impressive and Foolproof Webpage

This lesson will teach you how to replace text, add symbols, spell check, and use thesaurus.

9. Formatting Text - Part I

Since you'll have mastered the basic text operations by now, it's time to move a little further. You'll learn how to change the font face, style, size, and color. Nearing the end of the lesson, you will also learn to provide spacing between characters.

10. Formatting Text - Part II

This will be a continuation of the previous lesson. Topics covered in this lesson are: applying effects, highlighting text, text alignment, indent text, add and remove borders to and from the text and saving time with the Format Painter feature.

11. Bulleted and Numbered Lists

This lesson exhaustively deals with adding bulleted, picture bulleted, and numbered lists. You will also learn time-saving ways to do some of the above.

12. Making your web page attractive

By the end of this lesson, you will know how to create a definition list, add headings, background color, and background image.

13. Theme

All you ever wanted to know about themes will be covered in this lesson. You'll learn how to select specific web pages, apply a theme, and customize a theme.

14. ABCs of AutoShapes

You'll be dealing with the basics of AutoShapes in this lesson. You will be covering topics like: drawing toolbar, browsing through different AutoShapes, add, select, resize, move, copy-paste, delete the AutoShape and more.

15. Formatting and Shadow Effects for AutoShapes

Since you'll have mastered the basics of AutoShapes in the previous lesson, this lesson will take you to the next level. You'll learn about formatting AutoShapes, applying shadow effect to the AutoShapes, and formatting shadows.

16. 3-D Effects for AutoShapes and Out-and-out of Text Box

Topics you'll be covering in this lesson are: applying 3-D effect to AutoShapes, formatting the 3-D, inserting, selecting, resizing, formatting, moving, copy-pasting, and deleting a text box and a lot more.

17. ClipArt and Introduction to WordArt

This lesson will teach you how to insert, select, resize, move, copy-paste, and delete the ClipArt. Regarding WordArt, you'll learn how to insert a WordArt, select, and move the WordArt.

18. Scrupulous understanding of the WordArt Toolbar

The WordArt toolbar has a lot of buttons/icons that enable you to enhance the look of the WordArt. You'll learn in detail about these buttons and their functions in this lesson.

19. Horizontal Rule

This lesson entirely deals with the various operations regarding the horizontal rule/line. You'll learn how to insert, select, delete, and customize the horizontal line. You'll also learn how to add images for the horizontal line and a lot more.

20. Nuts and Bolts of Images

Images add a little spice to the web page. Hence, this lesson deals with inserting, selecting, resizing, copy-pasting, moving, and deleting a picture/image. You'll also learn how to provide alternative text.

21. Playing with Images - Part I

In this lesson, you'll learn how to rotate/flip an image, add text and border to an image, align the image with respect to text and a lot more interesting stuffs.

22. Playing with Images - Part II

Once you have completed this lesson, you will be able to vary the space around the image, crop an image, create a thumbnail image, and change the dimensions of a thumbnail image.

23. Playing with Images - Part III

All you ever wanted to know about image maps will be dealt in this lesson. You'll also learn to make the image background transparent. Regarding image maps, you'll learn to create, select, resize, move, hide, and delete the hotspot and more.

24. Links - Part I

In this lesson, you'll learn to create a text link and an image link. You'll also learn the procedure to link to a section in a web page. For this purpose, you'll learn how to create a bookmark and how to create a link to the bookmark.

25. Links - Part II

This will be a continuation of the previous lesson. In this lesson, you'll learn how to create an email link, remove any link, change the text for a link, change the linked web page, and change the link colors.

26. HomePage and Hyperlink View

This lesson will teach you how to create a home page, use the hyperlink view and more.

27. Fundamentals of Tables

Topics that you'll be covering in this lesson include, inserting a table, selecting a cell, row, column, and a table, adding additional rows and columns and more.

28. Working with Tables

In this lesson you'll learn how to delete a row, column, and a table, change the row height and column width, add caption to the table, add text, duplicate a table, copy the contents of a cell, split and merge cells.

29. Doll Up the Table

This will be a color-filled lesson. You'll learn to add color to the cells of the table, change the border size and color of the table. You'll also learn to add an image to a cell and more.

30. Tailor the Table to your requirement - Part I

In this lesson, you'll learn how to add a background image to the table, provide cell padding and cell spacing, distribute rows and columns evenly, and align the table. You'll also learn about the draw table and eraser tools.

31. Tailor the Table to your requirement - Part II

This will be an extension of the previous lesson. You'll learn how to align the text within the table, convert text to table and vice versa, and format the table. Being the last lesson, there will be a conclusion section with points, tips, and pointers.
