Course Overview
This course is a reflection of how plumbing as a trade has grown in complexity over the years. Our society has become increasingly dependent on skilled plumbing and pipe fitting professionals for its health and well-being. This course is a vital resource in the training of these skilled tradesmen.
Course Requirements
In order to succeed in this class you will need to complete the following:
Contribute to the class forums for each lesson.
Complete all 5 Class Lessons and pass all associated quizzes for each lesson.
Complete the 5 assignments listed in the Assignments area.
Course Goals
The goal of the course is to teach basic plumbing to those seeking a career in the plumbing trade, or for those that simply want to Do-It-Yourself.
The focus for this beginner course is to provide the student with the basic knowledge and skills needed when entering the plumbing trade.
-Students will learn definitions of the plumbing trade along with safty.
-Students will learn soldering techniques.
-Students will learn water supply systems and installation.
-Students will discuss drain, waste, and vents.
-Students will learn fixture installation.
-Student should come away from this course with a good understanding of the basics needed to enter the field of plumbing.
Course Materials
No books will be needed for this course. There is an assignment in the course that will require you to have the following items. Torch, solder, self-cleaning flux, a few copper fittings and a small length of copper tubing. These are items most households have lying around or can be borrowed.
Grading Policy
90-100 A 80-89 B 70-79 C 60-69 D Below 60 Failed. Students may request extra credit materials to makeup lost points.
